The Nutrigenomics Package

Sale Price:£245.00 Original Price:£315.00

Nutrigenomics explores how our genes influence the way our body uses nutrients, and how food choices may support our health.
While it’s a scientific term, at its core, Nutrigenomics is simply a more personalised approach to nutrition.

This package focuses on a small selection of genes that may affect individual nutrient needs.
It combines DNA testing with a one-on-one nutrition consultation to provide tailored insights and practical guidance based on your unique genetic profile.

The package includes:

1x Nutrigenomic DNA test
1× 60-minute video consultation with clinical nutritionist Eva Humphries to discuss and intelligently action the results

What’s the big deal about Nutrigenomics?

Our genes are essentially just instructions for how our bodies are built and function. Think of genes as a recipe for a dish featuring the ingredients and method.
Genes will code for traits like eye colour and height, for less familiar processes such as how quickly we get drunk from alcohol and much more.
In a similar way, our genes also determine our requirement for nutrients, how we absorb and use nutrients and how we handle toxins. These genetic differences can vary considerably from person to person.
Depending on which version of a gene we have, it may result in an increased need for certain nutrients.
Here are a few examples:

MTHFR - Variations in this gene may increase the need for folate, or make it harder to tolerate synthetic folic acid supplements.

VDR - Certain variants may reduce the body’s ability to activate vitamin D from sunlight or efficiently absorb calcium from food.

COMT - This gene may influence how the body responds to stress and stimulants. Some variants may be linked to irritability, anxiety, or sensitivity to otherwise “healthy” foods or supplements. Individuals with specific COMT variants may also have more difficulty clearing parabens commonly found in personal care products.

BCMO1 - Variations here may increase the body’s requirement for vitamin A.

Understanding this information is a very useful (and admittedly extremely nerdy) tool that may support a better individualised approach to nutrition and lifestyle choices.
