Wholefood Brunch x Oak Tree Farm

Now that the weather is getting warmer, the Wholefood brunch in collaboration with Oak Tree Farm is back on Sunday the 13th of April.

16 seats
5 courses based on garden produce
Stories

It’s a rare privilege to have a fantastic grower who not only utilises organic principles but also gets excited about doing things the right way with minimum environmental and maximum health impact.
The wonderful team at Oak Tree Farm do just that, and, quite frankly, it should be celebrated.
Luckily for us, the late spring and summer months happen to be a great representation of edible flowers, flavoursome leaves and fragrant herbs and I really want you to experience these carefully grown plants at their very best.
Unless you happen to be growing your own, you’ve probably never had the pleasure of appreciating herbs and vegetables picked a few minutes ago. Yet nutritionally and flavour-wise, this is when they are at their peak.
So, I’m going to try my best to turn the beautiful, freshly picked ingredients from the farm into 5 creative dishes.
You’ll learn about new plants and gather new nutrition knowledge as we explore the best of what the Oak Tree Farm garden has to offer.
You’ll enjoy brunch in the garden surrounded by the tranquillity of fragrant plants. There are even some chickens, ducks and alpacas around.

Expect a 2 to 3-hour brunch experience for £55 per person, including:

  • A welcome botanical spritz

  • A 5-course veggie, gluten-free brunch, utilising the best, freshest ingredients from the farm. Each course is dedicated to a particular group of plants, exploring edible flowers, leaves and herbs. Designed/ made by Eva and supported by Michelin-starred chef Mark (more about Mark here)

  • A mini nutrition talk by leading BANT registered nutritionist Eva Humphries (that’s me, hi)

  • A herbal infusion (aka freshly made tea) to finish

  • A tour of the culinary and medicinal garden including a talk by farm owner Jane and head grower Jo (More about the farm here.)

If this sounds like your thing then grab a ticket and cross everything that our great British weather holds out for the event.

The ins and outs:

- The Wholefood brunch is a limited event for 12-16 people taking place on Sunday the 13th of April.
- Arrive at Oak Tree Farm for 10am. The exact instructions will be sent to you once we have your booking.
- Seating is in the garden on outdoor picnic tables with benches. These are wooden picnic tables that each seat 4 people. If you happen to book as a one or two then expect to share your table with other people.
- Owing to the layout of the farm and the location of the tables, regrettably, it is not accessible by wheelchair users or individuals with reduced mobility. You’ll need to be comfortable walking up a small hill covered in grass and around the garden on uneven ground.
- We will be embracing whatever the weather throws at us, unless it is torrential rain, so please dress sensibly. High heels probably won’t get you far in the garden.
- The menu is designed to make the most of the produce available from the farm with each course devoted to a group of plants. I will be cooking for you, leaning into flavoursome dishes that aren’t your bog-standard brunch options. Aka there won’t be any “stuff on toast”-style dishes.
Expect flowers, leaves, herbs and eggs from the farm, prepared in creative ways.
- A note on allergies. The menu is vegetarian and gluten-free. Unfortunately, I am unable to cater for any other dietary requirements at present. It is just me cooking for 12-16 of you in an outdoor setting with minimum equipment, so as you can imagine, it’d be pretty tricky to create multiple versions of the same dish.
- Your booking is prepaid and non-refundable. Please only book if you would actually like to attend.
- In the eventuality that the event cannot be held because of extreme weather then you will receive a full refund. Note: a little drizzle isn’t extreme weather.
- If you have questions please send an email to Eva at eva@wholefoodwarrior.co.uk

Wholefood Brunch x Oak Tree Farm

The August brunch was tonnes of fun, so a second Wholefood brunch in collaboration with Oak Tree Farm is happening on the 22nd of September, just outside of Nottingham, weather permitting.

Yes, I totally got carried away.
Truthfully, it’s a rare privilege to have a fantastic grower who not only utilises organic principles but also gets excited about doing things the right way with minimum environmental and maximum health impact.

Fad-Free Nutrition

Let me show you the stellar difference a fad-free approach to nutrition can make to your wellbeing in 2024 and beyond.

I’m Eva Humphries, a BANT registered nutritionist with a realistic but science-backed take on healthy eating. (You can read about me here.)
I don’t believe in calories and like you, also see too many contradictory messages about health online. One minute a particular food is the saviour, the next it’s the worst thing for us.
Then there is this entirely wild landscape of weight loss products, supplements and strategies.
The list goes on.
I hear you. It’s hard to know what to do, so let me help you.

This 60-minute talk via Zoom is designed to take the confusion out of healthy eating so you can support your wellbeing in 2024 and beyond.
As a nutritionist of almost 8 years, I have been around the block enough to know what is actually achievable by individuals, what we need to pay attention to and what isn’t worth the effort.
As well as this, I have to sift through hours of science to make sure what I’m saying is valid. Not that I’m ringing my own bell but I’m so good at the science bit that my expertise have been featured in several publications, including Women’s Health, Readers Digest, The Telegraph and the Sunday Times.
Crucially, I have hundreds of nutrition clients who are living examples of just how awesome a fad-free approach to nutrition can be.

Here is what this talk will cover:

- What does “healthy” even mean
- Why calories are pointless
- The feelgood nutrients we should be focusing on
- How to make healthy eating easy
- Tonnes of easy-to-implement tips and tricks
- How to change your food environment to support your wellbeing
- Are any supplements worth our money?
- A Q&A to answer any questions you may have

The talk is:
☑️ Easy to understand and full of useable info
☑️ Takes a food-first approach with low-cost lifestyle and dietary tips instead of random products.
🛑 Not another regurgitation of the “just eat less and move more” hypothesis
🛑 Absolutely not a diet

Join me at 10am on Sunday the 14th of January for this 60-minute talk via Zoom by clicking on the button below.

Female Health Nutrition - The Perimenopause

Here is a sad fact, when women initially begin to experience peri-menopausal symptoms they are more likely to be offered anti-depressants than HRT.
I’m sure I don’t need to point out that antidepressants won’t exactly help in that context.

So I’m on a bit of a mission to get good information out to women in their late 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond.
The talk titled ‘Female Health Nutrition - The Perimenopause’ is designed to provide top-notch information that may help women feel better during the perimenopausal transition.

In case you are new here, Hi, I’m Eva, a BANT registered nutritionist with a realistic take on healthy eating. You can read my biog here for more information.

Truthfully, unless you are particularly motivated to learn, many of us aren’t well informed on the topic of hormones and the perimenopausal transition.
This 60-minute talk delivered via Zoom is designed to empower you with essential knowledge, including:
- What happens during the perimenopause?
- An overview of hormones and why symptoms like hot flashes and brain fog may crop up
- Science-backed foods that may help with symptoms
- A realistic approach to nutrition to support your wellbeing
- An overview of useful nutrients and what they do
- Foods to reduce that may make symptoms worse
- Navigating HRT - A few useful tips
- Supplements - which ones are worth your while - this is a totally impartial overview that is not led by supplement companies to provide you with some objective data because supplements are often a minefield & some can be a total waste of money.

Plus, you’ll also get the chance to ask questions should you wish.
Grab yourself a ticket using the link below and join me via Zoom for an hour(ish) at 6:30pm on Tuesday the 7th of November.

Nutrition Principles for Healthy Ageing

Nutrition Principles for Healthy Ageing

Let me start with a little-known fact that is nothing short of a major crisis.
Our healthy life expectancy, aka the age we can expect to live to in good health, is tumbling.
Sure, we will likely live to circa 82/83 but our healthy life expectancy now stands at a mere 62/63. (+/- a few years depending on where you may live, it’s a bit less up North and a bit longer if you are located in the South of the country.)
With the current retirement age set at 66, the low healthy life expectancy means working for at least 4 years with a chronic condition. It means spending the vast majority of retirement with multiple illnesses.
I don't know about you, but personally, I didn't sign up for this.

Luckily, I know a great deal about the science behind healthy ageing so here is some help in the form of a super duper talk on the main nutrition & lifestyle principles that may help us live better for longer.
If you are new here, hi, I’m Eva, a BANT registered nutritionist with a super realistic take on healthy eating.

Don’t worry, you aren’t about to get a scary nutrition lecture.
Instead, I would like you to start looking at your health like a pension pot, adding small amounts in regularly for a comfortable retirement & beyond.
Delivered via Zoom, this talk will focus on science-backed ideas that can be integrated into your everyday life with ease to support healthy ageing.
The principles are applicable at every age, looking after your health now and for years to come.

The talk will cover:

  • An overview of our nutritional needs and how this changes with age

  • Key nutrition principles for healthy ageing broken down into easy-to-understand action points

  • A look at what accelerates ageing and a few nifty tricks to slow it down

  • Essential nutrition and lifestyle knowledge

  • A brief look at some key variables such as hormones, brain health, bones and the cardiovascular system

  • Tonnes of useable tips and tricks

Join me for this 60-minute Zoom session on the 14th of June at 7pm and let me teach you the key principles that may help us live healthier for longer.

Here are the ins and out:

The talk will be held via Zoom on the 14th of June 2023 and should last approximately 1 hour.
Complete your purchase and you will be sent the link to join the talk.
Your camera will remain switched off and your mic will be muted, meaning you can watch in your pyjamas if you wish.
The cost of tickets is £20 which gives you a chance to attend this virtual talk.

Nutrition for immunity .png

Confused about immunity or just want to know how to best support your immune system this winter?
If the answer is yes then this workshop is for you.
This relaxed one hour chat by BANT registered nutritionist Eva Humphries will focus on foods that support the immune system.
It’s a jargon-free, expert-led look at what we need to eat to stay fighting fit this winter.
Rather than being a presentation, it’s a less formal, interactive talk with actual examples of foods and realistic ways of including them in your diet.
You’ll also get the chance to ask questions.

You can expect to learn:
- the main nutrients needed by the immune system
- what foods to include to support healthy immune function
- how to include those foods in your diet
- a few select supplements that may help

The talk will be delivered via Zoom.
Your ticket includes a document summarising the hints and tips discussed during the workshop so you don’t even need to take notes.
